*Program costs do not include health insurance. All students must have health insurance while in the U.S. Health insurance can be arranged for upon arrival through the University of Michigan International Center or during the International Center check-in and orientation.

An advance deposit of $400.00 must be received before your application can be processed. This deposit applies to your tuition and is not refundable if you decide not to attend. If you are not accepted into the program, however, your deposit will be refunded. Your deposit must be paid in the form of a check, bank draft, or money order made payable to the "University of Michigan ELI." Checks must be payable in U.S. funds through a U.S. bank. Contact the English Language Institute (ELI) if you would like to arrange payment by wire transfer (an additional fee will be charged to cover the cost of the wire transfer) or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). We cannot accept cash for advance deposits.

Sponsored Students

Sponsored students must provide the English Language Institute with a letter stating the terms of sponsorship, the name and e-mail address of a contact person at the sponsoring agency, and the regular mailing address to which the bill for tuition and fees should be sent.

Tuition Payment

Tuition must be paid in full on the first day of the program by cash, traveler’s check, bank draft, credit card, or personal check at the English Language Institute main office. Checks should be made payable to "University of Michigan ELI." Tuition cannot be paid at any other location.
